Acer Iconia W700 11.6-inch Windows 8 Tablet unveiled

Acer, at Computex Taipei, announced one of its upcoming Windows 8 tablets, the Acer ICONIA W700. The Iconia W700 is a 11.6-inch tablet that runs on Window 8 operating system, with a 1920×1080 display resolution and touch support up to 10 fingers. It also sports a 5 megapixel rear camera.

The Acer Iconia W700 sports a new feature that is not currently available in other current tablet. It has a “cradle” where you can “insert” the tablet and position it for landscape (70 degrees) or touch use (20 degrees). It’s somewhat hard to describe, so check out the pictures below from Engadget. Now the “cradle” does make the tablet look bulky but it provides a sturdy stand for the tablet.

The Acer Iconia W700 has a micro HDMI port, USB 3.0 port, Thunderbolt, power input, 3.5mm audio input, and its Aduio is powered by Dolby Home Theater. Meanwhile its “cradle” has three USB 3.0 ports.

Currently, Acer did not disclose information about its specifications. But as you can see it has a Thunderbolt port and most probably it is powered by an Intel Ivy Bridge processor.

The Acer Iconia W700 price is still also unknown. But Acer might price this tablet at around $800-$900 USD. They also did not mention if it will be sold with the cradle or the cradle is optional.

the dock looks cheap. the three USB 3.0 ports is a good addition though. I would like another battery and maybe it with brushed chrome.
