How to Root LG Optimus L3 E400

LG Optimus L3 E400 is one of the most affordable, entry level, Android smartphones out there. This phone was recently released, very new but could have been released last year to rival Samsung Galaxy Y. Anyway, here you will find how to root LG Optimus L3 E400. Before you proceed please do read the instructions careful, specially my warning.

How to Root LG Optimus L3 E400

1. You will need to download a rooting script for your respective operating system. If you are using a Windows based computer, download the LG Optimus L3 spectrum root script here. For Linux/OSX download it here.

2. After you have downloaded the file, you need to connect the LG Optimus L3 to your PC. But before that, you need to enable the USB Debugging. You can enabled it through Settings -> Applications -> Development and check USB Debugging.

3. Unzip the file that you have downloaded

4. Double Click or run the file “run.bat” for windows. For Linux and OSX, execute the “run.sh” file.

5. Just follow the instructions from there and your phone will be rooted after the process.

That’s it! Your phone should be rooted by now. Make sure you have the SuperUser App.

UPDATE: For those who are having problems using the method above, try rooting your phone using SuperOneClick v1.7 (or higher version). This might also work for LG Optimus L3 E405. You can download SuperOneClick here.

    Is it normal that the .bat script takes more than a half hour ?
    I had to interrupt the script, and nothing changed in my phone.

  5. Hi andy..i will just ask if what is the use of rooting the phone?? Pls give me info.. and how to transfer internal to extern memo?? if u root then it does help ur device to have fix. the int.a nd external issue??

    • Rooting your android device lets you have access to the “root” system. You can install apps that can “alter” or modify your phone. It’s like Jailbreaking in iPhones.
      Do you mean how to transfer files/apps from internal memo to external? There are apps that lets you do that. But some of these apps requires that you root your phone first.
      Rooting does not necessarily “fix” your phone. Sometimes, IF done improperly, rooting could damage or “brick” your phone.

  7. I have been trying to root my phone for days using the Linux software in Ubuntu without success.
    I set my phone to USB debbuging and run the .sh sript using terminal. Nothing happens to the phone, all i get is a shot script that runs. I once waited for a whole hour! What am i not doing right here?

    • Hi Boris, have you tried checking other source. It seems that this step works for some L3 400. But I’m not sure why is it not working for your phone. Perhaps you model is different? have you tried checking XDA?
