One of the most awaited smartphone this year is the Samsung Galaxy S 3, a successor of the popular Samsung Galaxy S2 last year. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is said to feature the latest Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, most probably powered by the latest Exynos dual core processor (quad core processor if we’re lucky) and is said to be only 7mm thick!
According to Samsung, the GALAXY S III will not be unveiled this coming Mobile World Congress event, but instead it will be announced/unveiled in an exclusive Samsung event later this year. Most probably by May 2012 or July 2012.
What do we know so far about Samsung Galaxy S 3? Let’s break it down into three parts, the Samsung Galaxy S3 specifications, its price and release date.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy S 3 is expected to run on the latest Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Operating System. It’s also recently reported that the GALAXY S III will only be 7mm thick. Much thinner than Galaxy S2.
The Galaxy S3’s processor could be the latest Exynos dual core processor running at 2GHz or better yet a quad core processor. But I’m hoping that it will be powered by a quad core processor since there are Android devices (tablets and smartphones) that are already powered by Tegra 3 Quad Core processor. And who knows, iPhone 5 could also be powered by a quad core processor already.
It’s also expected to sport an 8 megapixel rear camera with a 2 megapixel front facing camera. Although, others suggest that it could be a 12 megapixel camera instead of 8MP. Of course the GALAXY S III should be able to capture full HD videos, otherwise it would be very disappointing.
The Samsung Galaxy S 3 will most probably have a Super AMOLED Plus display, but the size and resolution of the display is still a big question. It might sport a 4.7″ display or even larger. Some say that it will have an edge to edge screen display.
It is also rumored that the GALAXY S III will have a 2GB RAM (memory size). But this report is still not confirmed. Other Samsung Galaxy S 3 specs are HSPA+, NFC, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Sensors and etc. These are the common things that we expect from Galaxy S 3.
Samsung Galaxy S 3 Price
The Samsung Galaxy S 3’s price is not yet disclosed. But I think it will be around the same price when Galaxy S 2 was first released. Or probably just a little bit expensive than Galaxy Note.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Release Date
We all thought that the Samsung Galaxy S 3 would be unveiled this coming Mobile World Congress Event. Unfortunately, Samsung has announced a few weeks ago that it will be unveiled at a non-MWC event, most probably an exclusive Samsung event, later this year.
The reason why Samsung Galaxy S3 release date is not yet disclosed (IMHO) is that there might be a delay in the production of GALAXY S III or they could be waiting for the iPhone 5 to be unveiled first and make the necessary adjustments to challenge the upcoming Apple’s iPhone 5.
Still, it is rumored that the Samsung Galaxy S 3 will be announced later this year, most probably by late Q2 or Q3 of 2012.
