Starmobile Diamond Released: Looks Similar to Cherry Mobile Omega HD

Starmobile has released another smartphone after Flirt – the Starmobile Diamond. The Diamond was recently released after Cherry Mobile released Omega HD, and surprisingly these two smartphones are alike. Like the Omega HD, the Starmobile Diamond sports a 5-inch IPS HD display at 720×1280 resolution with a scratch resistant Dragontrail Glass. It also packs a 1GHz dual core processor and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. But the Diamond is 2K more expensive that the Omega HD. See more details below…

Starmobile Diamond vs Cherry Mobile Omega HD

As you can see from the specs above, and the specs of the Omega HD, they are almost 100% identical. The only clear difference I can see is that the Diamond has a 3 megapixel front facing camera, while the Omega HD has only 2 megapixels.

But the Omega HD has two advantages over the Diamond. First, the Omega HD has a 2,100mAh battery compared to the 2,000mAh that the Diamond has. This is not a huge difference but the first is slightly larger in capacity. Second, there is a Php2,000 price difference between the two phones. The Starmobile Diamond is priced at Php 9,990 while the Omega HD is only Php 7,999.

If you look at the specs again, the CPU and GPU that the Diamond is built with is different from Omega HD. The Diamond has an MTK6577H Processor paired with Enhanced SGXS31. Whereas the Omega HD has a MediaTek MT6577 CPU and PowerVR SGX531 GPU. I’m not sure if the first is better than the later, but this might be one of the reasons why the Diamond has a higher price tag.

So if ever, which phone will you be getting?
