In my previous posts, we learned that Zalman will also manufacture and sell graphics cards such as their earlier announced Radeon HD 6800 and HD 6700 and GTX 500 series GPU. Now here we have a first look at Zalman Radeon HD 7950 graphics card or ZALMAN HD7950-Z.
The Zalman Radeon HD 7950 is cooled by Zalman’s very own VF3000 VGA cooler. It has a large aluminum fins and copper heatpipes cooled with two fans with red LED. However, you can notice in the pictures that the Zalman HD7950-Z’s VF3000 cooler is in direct contact with the GPU chip only. The VRM and the memory chips are not cooled by the heatsink, instead it relies on the fans, which I think is not a good move. Most GPU today have their VRMs and memory also cooled by the graphics card’s heatsink.
The cooler of the Zalman Radeon HD 7950 occupies three slots. According to reports, its cooler offers as low as 20°C temperature compared to the AMD reference cooler. But take this information with a grain of salt.
The Zalman Radeon HD 7950 or ZALMAN HD7950-Z has the same specifications as the reference AMD Radeon HD 7950. However, there are plans to make different variations of this graphics card, like an OC edition or something like that.
