How to Test Password Strength: Is my Password Safe?

Passwords and PIN Codes are very important to us, specially in the high tech world we live in. We use passwords every day, to access our computer, open accounts, and do various transactions. It is like our digital key to access our digital files. However, even though people knew the importance of a password, we tend to use an un-safe password, or a weak password. Why? The number one reason is for our convenience.

Is my password safe?

Are you the type of person who would use different passwords with different variations to your accounts? Or the type of person who would rather use one password that is easy to memorize like birth dates, name, or the likes? According to statistics, there are millions of people who are not aware of password security or don’t care and would rather use weak passwords for their accounts. I have listed below some of the most commonly used passwords in the internet.

The list above is just few of the many. Are you using one of them? Then it’s time to change your password. I know that making a secure password means making a complicated password that is hard to memorize. A strong password would mean a combination of different characters (both in upper and lower case), and numbers and symbols with at least 8 digits in total.

Let’s say for example you want to use the word “password” as your password. But since it is a very weak and easy to break password, you will have to change it a little. Instead of using “password”, try using “P@ssW0rD” or “00p@s$worD00“. Another trick is to add space in your password. For example “P@ssW0rD A2b4s“.
