LG Optimus Vu vs Samsung Galaxy Note: See the Difference
Published on February 13th, 2012
Recently, photos of LG Optimus Vu has been leaked and LG also revealed some of its features. But so far we know too little about LG Optimus Vu. We know for a fact that it is a big smartphone which sports a 5-inch display similar to Samsung Galaxy Note. The Vu could be one of Note’s competitor this year.
Let us compare LG Optimus Vu vs Samsung Galaxy Note based on the specifications and features that we know so far.
Size and Dimension
The LG Optimus Vu looks larger compared to Galaxy Note in terms of the phone’s size and dimension. It looks a little bit wider and taller. But despite its size, the Galaxy Note still has the bigger screen/display size.
The Samsung Galaxy Note sports a 5.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a 800×1280 resolution and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. While the LG Optimus Vu is reported to have an 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 768×1024 and a 4:3 aspect ratio. Not bad, but obviously the Galaxy Note wins this round.
The LG Optimus Vu is powered by a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor while the Galaxy Note is powered by a 1.4GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor. The difference is very little. In fact, in actual use, you might not feel the difference at all. Nevertheless, Optimus Vu wins this round.
Memory and Storage
Samsung Galaxy Note has a memory size of 1GB RAM and a 16GB internal storage. Storage capacity could also be expanded through microSD up to 32GB. While the Optimus Vu has also a 1GB RAM and a 8GB internal storage. No words yet if it has an expandable storage through microSD but most probably there will be an expandable storage for Optimus Vu.
Both the LG Optimus Vu and Samsung Galaxy Note features a rear 8 megapixel camera. No words yet if the Optimus Vu has a front facing camera, but most probably it has also a front facing camera. We just don’t know the sensor size. Anyway since both of them has an 8 megapixel camera, the determining factor here would be the quality of the photo/video taken. As of the moment we can not compare their photo/video quality yet, since there are no sample photos or videos of LG Optimus Vu available yet.
Both of them runs on Android v2.3 Gingerbread, although I think it would be better if LG used the latest Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on Optimus Vu.
The LG Optimus Vu is reported to feature NFC or Near Field Communication which the Galaxy Note also has and other stuff that the Galaxy Note can do. No words yet if the Optimus Vu has a stylus pen feature though. But like the picture below (a screen shot of LG Optimus Vu in action) suggests that its software capability is similar with that of Galaxy Note.
It’s also too early to compare their prices now. We can’t say either if LG Optimus Vu would be cheaper compared to Galaxy Note. But if the Optimus Vu sports better features than Galaxy Note then their is a possibility that the Optimus Vu might be priced higher compared to Galaxy Note.
The LG Optimus Vu is said to be unveiled this coming Mobile World Congress (MWC) at the end of the month.
I will update this LG Optimus Vu vs Samsung Galaxy Note once the official specifications and features are unveiled. By then, let’s just wait and see who will win.
