Samsung has recently released two new super thin, and “ultrabook-alike” Notebooks, the Samsung Series 5 NP535 Notebooks. Like its Intel counter part, these two ultra-thin notebooks weigh less than 4 pounds and has a thickness of 0.58″ (keypad only) to 0.69″ (closed position, keypad with display). Aside from its slimness, it also sport a high resolution display with 16 million colors and brightness of 300 nits. Other features are similar to its Intel counterpart.

Despite its remarkable specifications, the new Samsung Series 5 NP535 can not be referred to as an “Ultrabook“. The term “Ultrabook” was specifically defined and used by Intel. So generally speaking, when we say Ultrabook(s), these refers to Intel-powered models only. That is why we can’t really call the Series 5 NP535 an “Ultrabook“. Although I am not sure if “Ultrabook” is a trade mark of Intel. I’m still going to clarify this one.
Moving on, the new Series 5 NP535 are cheaper, since they are powered by AMD processors, and AMD offers a cheaper alternative to Intel. But the interesting part here is that these new Samsung Series 5 NP535 are powered by an AMD Radeon HD 7500G-7600G (codename Trinity) graphics mobile that supports DirectX 11, that is even more powerful than the current NP530 has (Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000). And to top it, it’s $100 cheaper compared to its Intel counterpart.
There are two models of the Samsung Series 5 NP535 that are available on Amazon. The Samsung Series 5 NP535U3C-A01US 13.3-Inch Laptop and the Samsung Series 5 NP535U4C-A01US 14-Inch Laptop. The main difference between these two is that the NP535U3C 13.3-inch is powered by a dual core processor, Radeon HD 7500G graphics, has a 13.3 inch display and is $50 cheaper. While the later, NP535U4C, is powered by a quad core processor, Radeon HD 7620G graphics and has 14-inch display. Their dimensions and input/output ports also different. Below is their respective specs comparison.

Which among the two should I buy?
If you are going to ask me to choose between the two, definitely I would go for the NP535U4C-A01US 14-Inch since it has a larger display, quad core processor, more powerful graphics, larger capacity and etc. Why? the price difference is only $50. And you get a huge upgrade from the 13.3-inch model.
