ThunderCats 2011 New Animated Series a Success, Movie to follow?

The ThunderCats are back with Thundercats 2011 a new animated TV series in Cartoon Network

Do you still remember the ThunderCats? Thundercats-HO! Lion-o, Tigra, Cheetara and the rest of the gang? Well I was the fan of ThunderCats back in my younger years. Good thing is Thundercats 2011 is back with an all new animated series.

ThunderCats 2011 new animated series was first seen in Cartoon Network last July 29, 2011. This new animated television series was product by Sam Register, Ethan Spaulding and Michael Jelenic and is a “reboot” of the original Thundercats series back in 1985-1990. The new Thundercats is produced by Warner Bros. Animation with animation provided by the Japanese Studio 4°C.

The first episode was an hour-long showing how Thundera fell and how Mumm-Ra began his war with the ThunderCats. Don’t want to be a spoiler for those who haven’t seen it yet. If you haven’t seen the first two episodes yet, I’m sure soon enough you will. You know were to find them right? ^_^

If you haven’t seen the first three episodes yet, I’m sure the trailer below will make you want to watch Thundercats. You can watch the Thundercats (2011) official trailer below:

Oh by the way, to give you an idea, this is how the Thudercats look like back in the old days.

Now this is how the new Thundercats look like, young and new! One thing I noticed while I was watching the new Thundercats, as far as I can remember, Snarf could talk back in the old Thundercats. Now, Snarf just “snarfs”.

Honestly I like the new character designs, especially Cheetara. ^_^ Lion-o’s Sword of Thundera pretty much looks the same and his claw shield too. Below is a list of characters in Thundercats 2011 and the voices behind the characters.

Thundercats characters:

  • Will Friedle as Lion-O
  • Emmanuelle Chriqui as Cheetara
  • Matthew Mercer as Tygra
  • Corey Burtonas as Jaga
  • Madeleine Hall as WilyKit
  • Eamon Pirrucello as WilyKat
  • Carl Jones as Alley Cat
  • Kevin Michael Richardson as Panthro
  • Satomi Kōrogi as Snarf
  • Dee Bradley Baker as Slythe
  • Clancy Brown as Grune
  • Robin Atkin Downes as Mumm-Ra
  • Larry Kenney as Claudus
  • Jim Meskimen TBA

Not only that, since the new Thundercats was a success, rumor has it that Warner Bros. is considering (or probably on the making) a Thundercats movie. Some leaked infos and rumors are going around in the internet community about Warner Bros. considering to make a Thundercats movie.

Although were not sure if Warner Bros. will really push through with the movie, but if a Thundercats movie were to be pushed through, would it be a live action or a CGI movie?

Below is a “leaked” Thundercats movie footage in CGI showing Lion-o vs Slithe.

Honestly I think that the “leaked” Thundercats movie clip is not real. Otherwise Warner Bros. would have pulled that movie clip out by now.

I can wait for the next Thundercats 2011 episodes to show up. The storyline is more or less the same with the original Thundercats story, but probably a twist and new story line will be added to make it more exciting and interesting.
