Cooler Master CM 690 III Features

The Cooler Master CM 690 series is one of my favorite chassis. I used the first CM 690 before for a couple of years, and comparing the 1st generation to the 3rd generation CM 690, I am quite impressed with the improvements. I’m currently using Cooler Master HAF XM right now, and I do notice that they both share some similarities and features.

The new CM 690 III retains mostly of its outer looks and design. It pretty much looks like the old CM 690 with the full mesh on the front panel and top with large vents, and on the side panel for superior cooling.

The Cooler Master CM 690 III has 3 designated places for radiators: 240mm: top, front; 120mm: rear. And now supports up to three 200mm large fans for extreme airflow with support for up to 9 total fans. 9 fans for the non windowed version, and 7 fans for the windows version.

Cooler Master has included a new ODD tool-less design “EZ tray” for quick installation and now supports up to 10 SSDs (4 in the removable HDD/SSD combo cage, 1 behind the M/B tray) and 7 HDDs with HDD/SSD combo trays.

The Cooler Master CM 690 III fully supports USB 3.0 with Dual Super Speed USB 3.0, supports long graphics cards up to 423mm, and tall CPU coolers up to 171mm. Another improvement is that it now has a multiple removable dust filters for improved system maintenance, one in top, another in front, and below the PSU. Price and Availability

Cooler Master didn’t disclosed any suggested retail price yet for the CM 960 III, but they did mention that the price may vary depending on the region. Most probably the price would be somewhere around the CM 960 III Advanced or slightly higher. But knowing the CM 690 lineup, I’m sure this will have a reasonable price tag.

The Cooler Master CM 690 III is said to become available starting August 2013. I’ll update this post or post a new article when the CM 690 III becomes available.
