The Design and Package
First, lets take a look at the Choiix Power Fort itself. The design is simple yet stylish. It’s a very light weight device which weighs 60 grams. It’s relatively small, just like a small mouse. It has a curve glass-like top design and it has a rubber bottom or an anti-skid finish for better grip on surfaces.
On top of it, it has a power button and a capacity LED indicator which turns Red or Green. On the front side is a standard USB and a Micro USB port. The standard USB is for connecting the Choiix Power Fort to a mobile device, while the Micro USB is for connecting the Choiix Power Fort to a power source to recharge it.
The Choiix Power Fort 5.5Whrs comes with a mini USB charging cable, micro USB charging cable and a carrying bag for the unit and the cables. You need to charge the Battery Pack for 8 hours the first time you use it. And it took me just 2 hours or more to recharge it the second time.
Actual Usage and Conclusion
Yesterday, we experienced a power interruption. Good thing I recharged the Choiix Power Fort and I was able to recharged my Samsung Galaxy Y through it. It was able to restore 75% of the battery life of my Galaxy Y. I must say, this backup battery pack is pretty useful when things like this happens.
I also tried charging my PSP but unfortunately there is no USB to DC power cable included in the package. But the Choiix Power Fort 10Whrs Advance has many accessories included in the package.
The Choiix Power Fort 5.5Whrs proves to be very useful specially when you need to recharge your device and there is no power available. Its lightweight, portable and looks pretty good. It has features like the things I enumerated above that is not available in your typical and ordinary backup battery power packs.
However because this device has a smaller capacity, it may not fully recharge bigger devices like tablets. Remember, it was able to recharge my Samsung Galaxy Y up to 75% only. Before you decide to buy, be sure which version would fit your needs best.
Choiix Power Fort 5.5Whrs Price
The Choiix Power Fort 5.5Whrs is priced around Php1,100 to Php1,200. If you think the 5.5Whrs is not enough for you, then I suggest you choose the Choiix Power Fort 10Whrs which is priced at around Php2,000 to Php2,500.
